- In the name of God Amen, I Lionel Enever of Loughton in the county of Essex, blacksmith, be ingaged and infirm in of body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory praise be Almighty God for the same, do for the settling my temporal affairs make and ordain my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say,first I give and devise unto my son Roger Enever, all that my copyhold messuage or tenement with the shop, outhouses, yards, gardens, orchards, land and herdits (sic) with their and every of their appuit (sic) there unto adjoining and belonging and now in my own occupation and all other my real estate whatsoever to hold the same and every part thereof unto my said son Roger Enever, his heirs and assigns for ever, subject nevertheless and I do hereby charge the said messuage or tenement, land and premises with the payment of the sum of forty pounds to my son William Enever and the sum of ten pounds to my daughter Mary the wife of Mr. John Lawton, and the sum of ten pounds to my son Lionel Enever and also the sum of five pounds to my granddaughter Elizabeth the wife of John Tyrer to be paid to them respectively out of my said estate by my said son Roger Enever within three years next after my decease. Also I give and bequeath to all my grand children now in being one shilling a piece. Also I give and bequeath unto my son in law James Hampton and to my daughter in law Ann Enever one shilling each. Also it is my will and desire that my dear and loving wife Martha Enever shall be jointly concerned with my said son Roger Enever in carrying on my trade and business for their equal benefit during her life if she shall so think fit, but if she shall not think fit so to do then I do give and bequeath unto my said wife the sum of seven shillings a week to be paid to her by my said son Roger Enever every week during her natural life, and I do hereby charge the said trade and all my said real estate with the payment of the same in the first place to her accordingly. Also I give unto my said son Roger Enever all the rest and residue of all my goods, chattels and personal estate of what nature or kind soever, and do nominate and appoint my said son Roger Enever to be sole executor of this my will hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time heretofore made and declaring this only to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said testator Lionel Enever have here unto set my hand and seal the sixteenth day of May in the yearof our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and sixty eight. Lyonel Enever.
Signed sealed,published and declared by the said testator Lionel Enever as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and at his request and also in the presence of each other have set our hand as witnesses hereunto William Matthews, John Buttle, John Smith.
This will was proved at London the twenty first day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty nine before the worshipful William Compton doctor of laws and surrogate of the right worshopful George Isay, also doctor of laws, master keeper or commissary of the progatative court of Canterbury,lawfully constituted by the oath of Roger Enever the son of the deceased and sole executor named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased, he having been first sworn duly to administer.
