  • Notes
    • John & Elizabeth have 4 christenings for their children incl Elizabeth in 1836 & Eliza in 1839. Eliza’s birthdate is recorded as 28/3/1831 while we have no date for Elizabeth. Eliza marries James Ennever in 1865 when she is recorded as Eliza while in censuses she is recorded as Elizabeth and in 1851 she is recorded as 20 years old matching Eliza’s birthdate.

The 1841 census for the family is confusing in that an Elizabeth Denton, aged 36, is listed between Mary Ann (14) and Eliza (10).

As no further trace can be found of a 2nd Eliza(beth) the most likely explanation is that the 2 christenings were for the same child.
